Taking Action

Women take responsibility for the well-being of family, friends, and the community. And many of us also have paid jobs. There are millions of us. Let us choose our giving ourselves, and think of knowledgeable political giving as the citizen's philanthropy. We can do it right from WomenMatter. The steps aren't hard; our impact is great.

1. Understand the current ways in which our tax dollars go to causes we may or may not believe in. To keep up, the details are described right here.

2. Understand where your representatives stand on both philosophy and the specifics of each of these issues, how they vote, and who gives them money, click here.

3. Questions to ask our representatives, candidates for office, and the political parties that want our money and our votes. How much do they know and how willing are they to give us the details about where they stand and why? Ask your elected representatives any of these Life Issue questions:

Is charitable giving a personal, religious, or a government decision? Why?

What do you believe is government's responsibility for services to low income people? Which services are the most important for government to provide?

What steps can you take to make sure that our tax dollars actually go to help the people who need them?
