Taking Action
 By the time any one of us has a personal problem that can only be resolved in court action, the lack of woman power just makes it worse. We need to look ahead and that means paying attention to other women's stories on the grounds that there but for the grace of God goes any one of us.It is hard to think ahead. And hard when we are in a lucky phase of our lives to think about the possibility of future trouble. The steps we can take are not hard. But we need to be alert. Together our impact is great.

1. Understand the current system and the many places in the legal system where women need equal voice, equal power, and sometimes special protection. To keep up, the details are described right here.
2. Understand where your representatives stand on both philosophy and the
specifics of each of these issues and who gives them money,
click here.
3. Questions to ask our representatives, candidates for office, and the political parties that want our money and our votes. How much do they know and how willing are they to give us the details about where they stand and why? Ask your elected representatives any of these Life Issue questions:
- Do you think women need special protective legislation or an Equal Rights Amendment in order to get equal treatment under the law and in the courts?
- What rights do you think women still need to protect them from abusive relationships or is there enough legislation now to give them equal treatment in the courts?
- What questions would you ask a nominee for a judgeship that would guarantee that women are treated equally in his/her courtroom?
4. Talk about your ideas with friends, family, and co-workers. You can use these questions to start exchanging ideas:
- Why have women accepted the system until it comes to hurt us personally, such as divorce, child custody, equal pay, sexual harassment?
- How can we pool our votes so that laws and judges match our views of what the important Life Issues are?
- How can we educate each other not to find ourselves in vulnerable positions where we have to depend on someone else for money and voice?
