Forum Problems?

Important Info:
Having problems registering for and/or using the WomenMatter Discussion Forums? Here are some things you should be aware of that will hopefully solve your problems:
- The Forums are protected, which means that anyone can read them, but in order to post to the Forums, users must first register (see below).
- Having protected Forums helps WomenMatter to ensure that:
- only serious postings appear (the idea being that only serious users will take the time to register)
- users can respond directly to each other (rather than using personal email accounts for example)
- Our Forum FAQ page provides additional information on many aspects of Forum use.
- It is impossible to view and accept the AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) if the HTTP_REFERER (sic) header is not being sent by your internet browser in the HTTP request to register for the forums. If your header information is not being sent you will never be able to successfully register for the forums.
- A lot of privacy-conscious people disable this header in their browser settings. If you have done this...you will need to allow this information to be sent in order to use the forums.
- Are you running any firewall or privacy software? Some of these programs (for example, Norton Personal Firewall or a similar product) block browser information from being sent and without this information the Forums will not work properly. All of the issues that users have had thus far with forums have been the result of this.
- There are usually ways to allow the browser information to be sent. For example, look for settings in your firewall/privacy software such as: "Privacy control" - configure - "Enable Browser Privacy" - and ensure that "Enable Browser Privacy" is not selected/checked when you want to register for or use the forums. Please note that this feature can usually be turned on/off as needed, so you can always re-enable it when you are done registering for or using the forums.
"What do I do next?"
- To browse the postings, go to the Forum lobby page and simply click on the headings of and posts in the various Forums.
- New users, if you want to take full advantage of the Forums, please register. Registering is free and simple to do. Answer a few questions to create an account, and after a few clicks of your mouse, you'll be ready to go!
- Existing users, (existing = already registered), please login.
Still having problems...please contact the Webmaster.
