Jobs, Taxes & Benefits

What's the Concern

Every family needs jobs, not only for regular expenses, but also because in the United States health benefits and pensions for retirement are often tied directly to employment.
  • My husband and I have jobs, but neither of those jobs has health benefits and a pension plan.
  • I have to take a job that has health benefits even if it is the wrong work for me, because I need benefits for my family.
  • When I retired, I had a good package of health benefits, but since then the company has been sold and the guarantees are gone. Every year a letter comes requiring bigger and bigger co-pays and fewer and fewer choices.
  • They say the economy is doing better, because fewer people are doing the work of the ones they laid off. It is called productivity. I call it a jobless recovery.
  • We have plenty of money in our family. I just don't want to pay taxes to take care of other people. Everyone should keep his money and take care of himself.
  • I say that my success (and I have a lot of it) is partly my talent, partly luck, and partly living in this country. Taxes are the way we even out the luck.
